📌 ACTI Excavator Training Overview

The ACTI Excavator Training Program is designed to provide workers with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate excavators in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations, CSA standards, and industry best practices. This training ensures operators understand safe excavator operation, hazard recognition, and workplace responsibilities.

Participants will learn how to conduct pre-use inspections, operate an excavator safely, recognize common hazards, and follow industry regulations. The course covers excavator components, stability principles, site safety, and emergency procedures.

🔹 Key Learning Modules:

  • Legislation & Standards: Understanding OH&S regulations, CSA standards, and employer responsibilities.
  • Excavator Anatomy & Components: Identifying key components, their functions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Pre-Use Inspections: Conducting safety checks, identifying defects, and ensuring proper machine functionality.
  • Excavator Stability & Safe Operations: Understanding balance, load limits, and best practices for stability.
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation: Recognizing potential site hazards, including underground utilities and unstable terrain.
  • Controls & Maneuvering Techniques: Operating controls, maneuvering safely, and handling loads effectively.
  • Site Safety & Traffic Management: Maintaining safe distances, working around personnel, and setting up job sites correctly.
  • Emergency Procedures & Incident Response: Handling equipment malfunctions, emergency shutdowns, and operator safety.

✅ Upon Completion:

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply OH&S and CSA regulations regarding excavator operations.
  • Identify excavator components and explain their functions.
  • Conduct thorough pre-use inspections to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
  • Demonstrate safe excavator operation, including maneuvering and load handling.
  • Recognize and mitigate job site hazards to prevent incidents and injuries.
  • Maintain excavator stability by understanding weight distribution and load limits.
  • Follow emergency shutdown procedures and respond appropriately to incidents.
  • Pass a written knowledge assessment (minimum 80%) and successfully complete the practical evaluation.

Participants who meet all course requirements will receive an ACTI Excavator Certification, recognized across Canada, ensuring they are qualified to operate excavators safely in industrial, construction, and excavation environments.
