The ACTI Skid Steer Training Program is designed to provide operators with the knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently operate a skid steer loader. This training aligns with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations, CSA standards, and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and workplace safety.
Participants will learn to conduct pre-use inspections, identify operational hazards, apply safe operating techniques, and respond to emergency situations. The course covers equipment components, stability principles, site safety, and maintenance procedures.
🔹 Key Learning Modules:
- Legislation & Standards: Understanding OH&S regulations, CSA standards, and employer/operator responsibilities.
- Skid Steer Anatomy & Components: Identifying key machine components and their functions.
- Pre-Use Inspections: Conducting daily checks to ensure safe equipment operation.
- Safe Operating Techniques: Understanding load balancing, terrain navigation, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
- Stability & Load Management: Avoiding tip-overs, center of gravity awareness, and handling various load types.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation: Recognizing and controlling site hazards, including pedestrian and equipment interactions.
- Attachments & Proper Use: Safely operating different skid steer attachments for material handling and grading.
- Emergency Procedures & Response: Handling equipment malfunctions, rollover prevention, and safe shutdown protocols.
✅ Upon Completion:
- ✅ Understand and apply OH&S and CSA regulations related to skid steer operations.
- ✅ Identify machine components and explain their functions.
- ✅ Conduct pre-use inspections and recognize equipment defects.
- ✅ Safely operate a skid steer, including maneuvering, load handling, and attachment use.
- ✅ Maintain machine stability by understanding weight distribution and terrain risks.
- ✅ Recognize and mitigate job site hazards to prevent incidents.
- ✅ Follow emergency shutdown and response procedures in case of equipment failure.
- ✅ Pass a written knowledge assessment (minimum 80%) and successfully complete the practical evaluation.
Participants who meet all course requirements will receive an ACTI Skid Steer Certification, recognized across Canada, ensuring they are qualified to operate skid steers safely in industrial, construction, and agricultural environments.
